For lovers of modern art in Parma, the Centro Studi Archivio della Comunicazione (CSAS) is the place to head, while for more traditional paintings, check out the Tuscan exhibits at the Pinacoteca Stuard Gallery.

The National Gallery (Galleria Nazionale) in Parma is quite unmissable and this fine collection of art works is located on the second floor of the Palazzo della Pilotta, next to the Farnese Theater (Teatro Farnese).

Exhibits at the Galleria Nazionale (National Gallery) date from the 15th-century Emilian school of art and the 17th-century Lombard school, through to Dutch portraits and paintings from the 19th century. Of particular interest at Parma's Galleria Nazionale is the unfinished portrait of a young woman by Leonardo Da Vinci, the remains of the Madonna della Scala fresco by Correggio, and various works by Parmigianino.

The Centre for the Study of Communication (CSAS) is the largest contemporary art museum in Italy. Under the direction of the Faculty of Art History at Parma University, the museum's vast collection includes paintings by major artists from Parma, Italy and all over the world. The Centro Studi Archivio della Comunicazione also exhibits photographs, and sketches used in design prototypes, fashion design and contemporary architecture. It is advisable to telephone the Centre in advance before visiting as it is only open at certain times.

Parma Art Galleries: Pinacoteca Stuard Gallery - Via Cavestro 14, Parma, Italy, IT

Located next to Parma's University, this art gallery houses a collection donated by Giuseppe Stuard. Amongst the paintings and prints displayed within the Pinacoteca Stuard, the most famous exhibits belong to the Tuscan school of art and date back to the 14th and 15th centuries.
