Parma Weather and Climate: Picture of the Duomo in the sunshineParma's climate is influenced by its location between the Po Valley plain and the Apennine mountain range.

Consequently, the city is fortunate in avoiding extremely high temperatures and humidity during the summer, when it is visited by many tourists.

Parma is sheltered to a certain extent from severe winter weather found in some regions in the north of Italy.

Whatever the time of year, though, visitors to Parma should come prepared for showers. This is particularly the case in the autumn, when the climate can be particularly changeable.

The spring months in Parma bring warm weather and are perhaps the best time of year to visit the city. From April to June the weather is quite sunny, without being too warm. Average temperatures during the day are between 14°C / 57°F and 17°C / 63°F, with temperatures often rising beyond this during May and June.

In the summer, temperatures rise and Parma generally basks in hot sunshine, enjoying its most favourable climate. Between July and August, temperatures can rise to a high of 30°C / 86°F. The advantage of such weather is that evenings tend to be very warm, allowing visitors to dine al fresco in the evening and admire Parma's rather beautiful sunsets.

The autumn climate in Parma is marked by the arrival of fog, grey skies and more changeable weather. Rainfall levels are higher at this time of year than at any other. Whilst September temperatures can be as high as 25°C / 77°F, in November, average temperatures can fall down to 10°C / 50°F.

In winter, temperatures in Parma can drop considerably. The weather may even be cold enough to bring some snowfall. On average, though, temperatures are usually between 4°C / 39°F and 8°C / 46°F.
